Please join with Quakers and other fellow seekers Wednesday, March 13 and March 27, to read together and discuss “Letters to a Fellow Seeker: A Short Introduction to the Quaker Way,” by Steve Chase.
Book Description: In seven brief letters (76 pages total) to a fictional correspondent, Chase describes his spiritual journey among Friends, introducing the Quaker way to a newcomer in language that is personal and gentle, while offering powerful inspiration through stories. Written as an invitation to inquirers, “Letters to a Fellow Seeker” will also stimulate discussion among longtime Friends about how we experience and remain true to our Quaker faith.
The seven chapters cover such topics as “Are Quakers Christian?”, “Silent Worship and the Inward Teacher,” and “Quaker Faith and Social Action.” Each meeting will begin with a few minutes of silent worship, followed by some general discussion, and then Richelle Ogle will pose “queries” based on the reading to stimulate discussion. You do not have to have any knowledge of Quakers/Friends, or have attended a Quaker meeting for worship to take part in this discussion or find it thought-provoking. We hope discussing this book together will build community among local Quakers/Friends, interested members of The United Church, and other fellow seekers.
If you are interested in participating, please let Richelle Ogle know by calling (610) 368-2908, or by email at rogle415@gmail.com. Richelle has ordered copies of the book ($12 each) and will have them in hand within the next week.
